Sport/Religion??

I like Sport. I watch a lot of it. most of it on the TV, well actually all of it on the TV. I am an armchair sporty northerner. I am an avid liverpool supporter and have been since an ickle kid. I hate Man U, and for Gods sake don't ask why cause i have no idea, it just one of those passion things, it's a very strange feeling at times.

Watching football (liverpool and England only) invokes such emotion in me i sometimes wonder why i bother cause in no way can it be healthy. Anger and fustration well up like nothing else and i cannot control it. swearing, cushion throwing nothing stops it until it is over and even then there have been times after watching liverpool lose it can take me hours to get rid of the emotion that it invoked. (please note that i am not a football hooligan, and i agree that they should be shot with a rifle and suffer and slow painful death

I'll watch cricket all day, only england though. Wish i was in india watching them now, 40 degrees apparently. probably too hot for the likes of an english northerner. Again, cricket is a frustrating sport to watch....all they have to do is hit a ball or take a wicket, how hard can it be.....

Formula 1, although got a bit boring over the last years but i remember one time in my mid 20's watching the grand prix at about 3am completly and utterly off my face on speed and god knows what else. I was transfixed to the screen, then coultard hit the wall going into the pits, freaky feeling....lost interest after that and went back to feeling paranoid with my mates....I'll talk about drugs some other time.

I'll watch the golf but only the ryder cup cause we get a chance to batter the american's at something.

Then there are the other sports which i'll just watch for the sake of it depending on who is in it.

I have come to the conclusion that sport and emotions don't mix very well, i don't like to lose and i suppose i am not very gracious in defeat. No one likes to lose!!

I'll lever understand why some people don't like watching sport, probably as much as them not understanding why people spend all sorts of money to watch sport. Can I allude to the fact that Sport is like religion? People support religion for no apparant reason, what the fuck is religion all about, i have no idea. So why do i follow sport as much as i do, do the religious people suffer from the same mentality as those who have a passion for watching sport? hmmmmm!! i suppose religion gives people a purpose in life and the same can be said to those who like sport. So in that case, if you don't do sport and you don't do religion there has to be some purpose in your life. films, books, music, family, work, money etc etc etc, they are all there!! there has to be something. So next time you slag someone off for doing something you don't agree with, sit back and wonder what it is about you that makes you tick and decide if they would feel the same way about you about that.......
